Term limits are already in place; every two years for reps, six for senators, and four for the president. The problem is the voters.

In way too many districts and states, voters simply cannot be trusted with their intelligence. Witness Massachusetts and decades of voters reinstating Ted Kennedy.

Yes, if senators were allowed only two terms, the nation would have been saved about 35 years ago, but rather than allow dumb voters to elect another moron, I prefer a system change that would allow all Americans to vote for every member of congress.

until just a few years ago, I resisted supporting term limitations on members of Congress. but the progress of time has convinced me that we have a permanent class of permanent politicians, and the only way to rid ourselves of this parasite dangerous class is term limited government. sadly, the voters in too many districts have proven their inability to vote for good government.

do you seriously believe that without term limits voters in inner city Democrat districts will ever get rid of parasites like Sheila Jackson Lee?

And because of the sick seniority system, these half wits have effectively more power in Congress.

1) end open term voting,

2) end the seniority system.

3) and we might think of implementing a proportional voting system based upon the total number of registered voters who elect officials. for example, how is it "representative" to have a US Congressman who is elected from a district where only 5% of the registered voters participated? on the other hand there are districts where over 75% of the registered voters partipate. I think that the voting power of those individual Congressfools who be based upon what % of the registered voters participate in the election. This also helps insure accountablity and breaks up these 3rd world fiefdoms which have choked democracy and accoutability in the inner cities.

the problem with term limits is that without the threat of being voted out at the end of the term, what is to keep the politician from just doing whatever he wants to do?

a "recall" mechanism would work just fine to keep crooks and arrogant place holders under control.

we have to end this system of a permanent political class.

they graduate from law school, become aids to an elected rep, eventually run for office, get elected over and over again, and then join the lobbying class until they finally retire. this is nonsense, we need another type of person in public office, and the only way to get rid of what we have now is

term limits,
ending seniority,
and a different mechanism of vote share to end the corruption in some of the districts that have voters who won't participate

that is a more complicated issue, the constitution says nothing about the shape of congressional districts, and your "gerrymandering" may be my "well shaped" district - who decides?

what we can do is get rid of the "minority majority" requirements. this has lead to congressional districts with parasites who stay in office like 3rd world despots until they keel over from old age. The idiot Sheila Jackson Lee is a perfect example. do a google search on the idiotic statement of that Houston congressfool, it worth the laugh to read her idiocy.

ridiculous! the Constitution doesnt' say anything about the Congress having its own health care system either....

have you seen some of these guys districts? some are not even connected. when they go in and cherry pick which HOUSES are in which district..

I will look up some of these districts later when I have time. But when the person in power gets to decide WHO votes in his districts it is no different than if he had goons standing at the polls turning people away

Each state legislature draws up the boundaries of Congressional districts within their own states, I don't see that there is any alternative to this, and it is essential the process of federalism envisioned by the founders.

What I want ended are federal court requirements on the states to draw up "minority majority" districts, this requirement has lead to many of the oddly shaped districts you are referring to. This requirment is another example of an unelected judiciary interfering with federalism. I feel that the legislatures should have no restrictions in drawing boundaries of districts, except they must to be contiguous.
