The IPCC tries to slither quietly out the back door.

IPCC scientists — facing the travesty of predictions-gone-wrong — are trying to salvage some face, and plant some escape-clause seeds for later. But people are not stupid.

A conveniently leaked IPCC draft is testing the ground. What excuses can they get away with? Hidden underneath some pat lines about how anthropogenic global warming is “likely” to influence… ah cold days and warm days, is the get-out-of-jail clause that’s really a bombshell:

“Uncertainty in the sign of projected changes in climate extremes over the coming two to three decades is relatively large because climate change signals are expected to be relatively small compared to natural climate variability”.

Translated: The natural climate forces are stronger than we thought, and we give up, we can’t say whether it will get warmer or colder in the next twenty years.

huh...

well over here, on Yahoo, they have been touting a story about how we are in for 'much more severe weather' or 'world leaders brace for even more severe storms'...I can't find the story though.

I didn't read it because I am sick to death of 'oh no, the polar bears is dying!'

here it is...look at the headline: typical Progressive fear mongering

Scientists: Future to Hold More Severe Weather
Summary of report says extremes could make some places "marginal" for living.

.......

The report from the Nobel Prize-winning Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change marks a change in climate science, from focusing on subtle shifts in average temperatures to concentrating on the harder-to-analyze freak events that grab headlines, hurt economies and kill people.

harder to analyze? like their computer models before were so clear and concise?

Studies have not yet specifically tied global warming to the continuing drought, but it is consistent with computer models that indicate current climate trends will worsen existing droughts, Meehl said. Scientifically connecting a weather disaster with global warming is a complicated and time-consuming task that can take more than a year and involve lots of computer calculations.

so now man made global warming DOESN'T cause droughts? ok...thanks for the clarification.

Quote
Thailand is now coping with massive flooding from monsoonal rains — an event that illustrates how climate is also connected with other manmade issues such as population growth, urban development and river management, Schmidt said.

ya think? I am not a 'scientist' and I knew that..

Quote
And global warming isn't the sole villain in future climate disasters, the climate report says. An even bigger problem will be the number of people — especially the poor — who live in harm's way.

The 18-page summary report isn't completely grim. It says some "low-regrets measures" can help reduce disaster risks and costs, including better preparedness, sustainable land and water management, better public health monitoring and building improvements.

how the heck is public health monitoring going to help people survive a monsoon? good grief..

it's just the typical Progressive mumbo jumbo...they realize they've overplayed their hand so now they are going back to the seventies style ecology messages...I will be expecting Chief Summerwinterfallspring to be out by the side of the road crying in commercials any day now..trying to brainwash another generation so they can try again in a few years.

and it IS a better strategy for them, who can be against disaster preparedness? they got too greedy is what happened, they have much more success killing us one bite at a time; we don't notice it and we ignore them.
