Another opportunity to call the liberals out on their lie about Republicans being deliberately racist.

but if no one seems to be listening, doesn't it appear to be pandering - just the way Democrats do it?

I'm sure it would to someone who doesn't bother to get the real story.

most people don't get the real story Milo, that is the truism of our age. sad to say. this congressman may be the best candidate for the job, but that portion of the story gets drowned in identity politics as Republicans seek to promote the elevation of a Black Republican, just as they did at their convention with the featuring of Hispanic and Black Republican speakers. it appears to be pandering and the Democrats can easily say to their own Black and Hispanic constituency groups - that the Repubs are offering up too little too late. given the 2012 election results, I would say the Democrats have been successful in their spin to that effect.

the dems will continue to win the PR and communications war until the republicans actually learn what PR/communications is. It's not that the republicans have a bad message, there's no real message at all, and to the extent there is one (or two), they can't package it, merchandise it, and deliver it it an effective way that sinks in to people's brains. The repbulican party has a old fashioned parental approach to communications--children (ie the voters) should be seen and not heard or spoken to. Dems offer the kids dope, money, a pass to curse and swear at the dinner table, and have sex with the neighbor slut. Kids gravitate to the latter and when people like what they're getting, they tend to listen to the messaging that goes along with the stuff.

Grin the voters have seemingly opted for the free pass to the slut. I am not sure that any different messaging will change the decision making process with an electorate which now can be characterized as "low information voters". the only change that I can see on the horizon would be if the low information voters get a serious STD from the slut and have to turn to the Republicans for meds and counseling.
