Finally we in Australia have a government that has gotten serious in defending our borders. They have put the army in charge of "Operation Sovereign Borders" and for the first time in ages we have had no boat arrivals for several weeks - and no drownings. Over 1000 have perished at sea trying to get here. The navy now turns boats around and escorts them back to Indonesian waters rather than act like a taxi service to Australia. Boats used to ring up emergency service only several kilometres off the Indonesian coast, say they were in trouble and get taken to Australian territory by the navy.

Someone once said that a country that can't defend its borders will cease to exist. Anne Coulter would probably agree.

I wish you would send some people over here to talk some sense into our people.

They keep talking about how the parties have to adapt to the 'changing demographics'...well there wouldnt' BE 'changing demographics' if they'd seal the damn borders.

and of course if you object to your culture being completely destroyed and replaced then you are a 'racist'.

You have big trouble in the US because the compatriots of the illegal immigrant population have now reached sufficient numbers to have enormous political clout. On present trends your culture and population will be changed over the medium term - so it really is an existential issue for you. People get bamboozled by the idea that immigrants have historically been a strength for the US. Well we are a country built on immigrants too - but we like to be the ones who get to choose who comes here and in what numbers. We currently take in 15, 000 refugees each year selected from camps around the world, plus around 180,000 skilled migrants. If people feel the immigration program is under control they tend to support it. When it gets out of control all bets are off.

we also have way too many people that have bought into the 'America is unfair to the rest of the world, America is bad, America was founded on cruelty and abuse' meme. They cant' seem to see that the very fact that America is willing to even entertain them is proof of the exact opposite. I don't see leaders in Cuba telling their people this...or in Mexico or Canada. I dont' get why the US is sooooo much worse than Brazil or Argentina. I guess those countries invited Europeans in and live in harmony. NOT.

They pull this BS here because our people ARE kind and compassionate and willing to give to others. It is our downfall. We are the big dogs as far as prosperity and power...the only big dogs willing to allow the losers of evolution to nip at our heels and pout that we have 'too much'.

I don't see why our leaders can't/won't see stuff that is so painfully obvious to us. We wouldn't have this problem today if it were not for the amnesty that Reagan gave 30 years ago, these immigrants wouldn't BE here. So we give amnesty now, it just invites the next wave over...just manage to stay for a few years, breaking our laws, stealing our public funds and we'll reward you.

It's as if being an American citizen is so worthless to these politicians that they want to pass it out like Chiklets.

and the rape trees and the human smuggling and the drug dealers and the kidnappers will continue on as before. so much for the 'humanitarianism' of giving Chiklets away.
